"Rember Your Sacrifice, Live For Theirs!"
As this new milestone approached, we at WTF, Inc. fully embraced the idea of making a lifelong commitment to Pleasanton, KS - the least we could do - after all they have done for those we serve. What we were not anticipating however... God Bless that small town love! There is truly nothing like it.
When a County like Linn County, KS is filled with small towns, should one be surprised if one is met with that small town love from surrounding towns/cities?
"Working Party Up!"
Day one began with what some may recall as a "working party." On Thursday, November 9, 2023, WTF, Inc. embarked on our very first community outreach project. American Legion Post 248 needed a hand with replacing some dropdown ceiling panels and some exterior beautification projects. We complained, we laughed, we shared stories, we created memories, we dodged a couple brown recluse spiders, and we broke some bread. Once it was all said and done, our mission was accomplished, and we look forward to 2024 and possibly tackling on their new flooring project. "It is amazing how you all can be from different parts of the USA and come together and function like a cohesive unit and get work done like this. I thought this work was going to take all day and you guys finished so fast." Hoorah - That's how we roll! S/F
Veteran's Day Celebration
Day two, morning half, November 10, 2023, began with a beautiful celebration ceremony for our military veterans and their families.
With Linn County's veteran suicides being reported to be more than the national average, it was a blessing to learn that this small town called Pleasanton, located 30 minutes north of Fort Scott, KS, walks the walk when it comes to showing their love and support for veterans, past, present, & future, and their families. They were gracious enough to welcome WTF, Inc. to participate in their 2023 veteran's day program.
Thanks to Josh for triggering Duke's behavior so that he didn't have to give a speech. 😉
Thank you to Pleasanton High School and the families involved with the program and support.
It was an honor and pleasure to meet Sierra & Micah.
Paul, Aubin, Alison, and Adam, much love, and we will see you again soon!
Veteran's Day Celebration (Cont.)
Day two, afternoon half, November 10, 2023, led us to an amazing restaurant, owned and operated by Bret and Sara Holder, called Pizza Republic. Bret and Sara are such great Americans that graciously hosted us for lunch. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for Jim Dick (President of E3 Ranch), Bret & Sara, the E3 Ranch family, and the other great Americans we met that day.
After lunch, Jim took us on a tour of E3 Ranch HQ. We got to taste the quality of beef that comes from this ranch firsthand. AMAZING! Thank you so much for providing us with such high quality and trustworthy ground beef.
USMC's 248th Birthday, Party Time!
Day two, November 10, 2023, Pizza Republic's USMC's 248th Cake Cutting Ceremony Event. Master of Ceremony: Bret Holder.
We gave thanks to God. We reminisced on General John A. Lejeune's message. We heard from our current Commandant. We honored our oldest Marine present. We embraced our youngest Marine present. Some great remarks were shared. We drank, we laughed, and we ate.
It doesn't matter when you served, where you served, or how you served. On November 10th, we come together as United States Marines, and we celebrate the birth of the worlds' most lethal fighting force it has ever seen. God bless the United States Marines!
Fort Scott National Cemetery
Day three, November 11, 2023, was spent honoring those that have come before us. Standing at attention this day, amongst warriors who served during the Korean war, honoring each of our military branches was extremely humbling. Following this beautiful ceremony, we got to break bread at VFW Post 1165. Thank you to those that prepared such a delicious meal.
All of this was made possible because of our Friends at Liberty Defense Group, (LDG). Please, find time to express any appreciation to the founder of LDG, Jon Reeves. His love and passion for our nation's veterans is not only expressed with how he staffs his company, but in his philanthropy work as well.
